As the Metaverse develops and expands, it brings innovations with it. Brands have already started creating stores in virtual environments to provide a new shopping experience for young consumers.

Can we say that we have entered the next phase of virtual shopping, namely the future? We think we can. However, with these developments, which are still in their infancy, we think we have come a long way to the future we dream of, to the virtual clothing changing rooms, which are realized in the presence of some advanced technological tools that we come across in science fiction movies.

Organic Agency says: “As the journey of virtual shopping is being launched with solid steps, an increasing number of brands have started to establish stores in Metaverse.”

What Is Virtual Shopping?

What Is Virtual Shopping?

New York Times report, “Avatars wear Prada clothes”

Virtual shopping is a virtual environment where customers browse products as if they were walking through a real-life store. In other words, this term refers to a digital environment where we can browse the stores, browse the products and shop online.

With the avatar you created, you will be able to walk around the virtual stores from where you sit and interact with the avatar personnel of the brands, thanks to your virtual reality glasses and headsets. Virtual shopping offers an immersive experience where users can access products in 3D and even customize some products before ordering. Most of the 32% of consumers around the world have already started using this technology to shop.

Generation Z Is Happy With These Developments

The majority of the target audience of these developments is young people. America’s leading retail company Target created a value with “Take Pride” in the Pride Month. In this emerging virtual environment, it was once again witnessed how high the desire of people to express their true selves in digital spaces. Project employees realized that more than 4 out of 5 customers are very interested in customizing their avatars; it was stated that more than half of customers want their avatars to look different from themselves, even surreal.

At the end of the project, the testimonies of one of the clients prove that it is quite enjoyable to create these strange, extraordinary affirmative worlds. “Horizon Worlds helped me be the real me with this project. I’m not disabled here. I can walk. I can go inside and focus on how I feel. I’m bisexual and transgender… They just know me there. And that’s a real gift for me.”

With this virtual shopping project, Target not only created social awareness, but also promoted Pride products in a virtual environment, enabling the brand to establish deeper relationships with its customers. The interest in the project, which reveals the extent of the interest in virtual environments, draws attention as always the desire of the young generation to explore. The demand for shopping in virtual reality is increasing day by day and 69% of the respondents in the end-of-project survey stated that they want brands to exist in the virtual world. The trend is especially observed among the younger generation. More than 70% of millennials and millennials surveyed reported purchasing a digital item from a video game, so we’re not surprised.
